Drinking water is essential for everyone. Buying bottled water might be convenient. But our 18-year-old celebrity Jaden Smith finds it an issue for the environment.

At the age of 12, Jaden Smith found that the plastic bottles were causing a lot of problem to the environment. He wanted to do something from that young age. So, Smith supported JUST water- a company that works to create an eco-friendly package for bottled water.

Every year almost 38 billion water bottles end up in landfills and an estimated 17 million barrels of oil is required to produce them. JUST an US-based company has come up with a solution to reduce plastic pollution. JUST redesigns the water bottles to make it from 100% recyclable plant-based plastic and fill it with spring water.

JUST Water is responsibly sourced, produced and packaged. The bottle is made up of 82% renewable resources that can be regrown naturally and lower carbon footprint.

The bottle is made up of a paper base carton. All the wood for the paper is collected from forests managed and certified by the Forest Stewardship Council and The Rainforest Alliance.

Perhaps the most innovative part of the bottle is the cap. The plastic is derived from sugarcane, which is a more efficient, renewable and recyclable alternative to the traditional fossil-fuel based plastic.

Even the water is responsibly sourced. More than half of the water supply in the Glenn Falls watershed goes unused. JUST Water plans to use less than 3% of those 1.7 billion gallons.

Glen falls.

This partnership with this small city in the Adirondacks created the first ever public and private sustainable commercial water agreement.

JUST is a group who came together in efforts to create a social and environmental impact through business. Composed of over 120 members including Calvin Harris, Queen Latifah, Jaden Smith and Will Smith.

Jaden Smith’s action for the cause might feel a bit Hollywood itself. But it’s a growing environmental problem, and at just 20 years old, Jaden Smith has put a lot of work. Now Jaden is rarely seen out without a JUST carton of water in hand.

“He is the catalyst behind the whole idea, Since he was 10 years old, it has been his dream to reduce plastic pollution,” says Grace Jeon CEO of JUST Water.

JUST is now in the process of rolling out nationally in most major retail locations with a plan to be in 25,000 stores by the end of this year. Probably JUST water is one of the easiest ways to be more eco-friendly.

New sustainable products come to market frequently but they might not sustain. But when celebrities support a product they probably can find a lead in the competitive market.

Next time you need a water bottle then think about buying a carton of water.
