Description

Sesame is a flowering plant in the genus sesamumor sesamumindicum (where indicum stands for India), there are varied species that are wild and native to sub Saharan Africa though probably the edible variety of the seeds has originated from India many centuries ago. As it is a survivor crop it can grow in drought, rain, heat, etc., anywhere and is generally grown in tropical, subtropical and southern temperate areas of the globe.

It is known as queen of oil seeds as it is the seed with highest in oil content, oil can be anywhere between 45% to 60%. All traditional Indian medicines endorse it for it multiple health benefits as it is source of calcium, iron, manganese, vitamin B, plant protein and fibre and is anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, etc.

We make our sesame chutney in traditional Maharashtrian style with sesame seeds cultivated on our natural food forest, our sesame seeds are naturally sundried and unpolished thus ensuring all nutrients are intact. Just the basic spices along with garlic is added to the chutney to give it the right flavour, it is crunchy to taste and good to taste.
