The number of vehicles is increasing in order to meet the demand of the growing population. What if the vehicles could help us to solve environmental problems.

Goodyear has come up with a living tire filled with a heat-resistant moss. The moss tire is called Oxygene and it features a unique open structure in which moss is grown. The opening in the tire helps to absorb water from roads and feeds the moss and also helps in providing extra grip.

The moss tire is lightweight and is made by 3D printing and the raw material used is recycled rubber. The tire’s non-pneumatic construction reduces the chances of getting flat. Moss absorbs carbon-di-oxide and other pollutants and uses them as feed. Moss undergoes photosynthesis to provide Oxygen. The energy produced during photosynthesis can be used to produce electricity which can be used to fuel the artificial intelligence that the tire will possess.

Artificial intelligence helps the tire to communicate with the tires of other vehicles using LiFi technology which is based on the speed of light. This technology will be very efficient for self-driving cars in the future.

Technology can club up with nature to provide smart sustainable products which can take care of the environment just like moss tire Oxygene manufactured by Goodyear.

SOME FAQ’s

Question: How Goodyear Sustainable Products (Moss tires) helps in maintaining sustainability?

Answer: The concept used by Goodyear is new and a brilliant move towards launching more sustainable products, it was initially introduced in the year 2018.

Moss tires use a unique structure that allows moss to grow within its sidewall.

This design was planed in a way so that it can absorb and circulate water and moisture from the road surface.

As the tire absorbs and circulates moisture and water from the surface, photosynthesis occurs, and therefore, it starts releasing oxygen into the air.
