100 Meter high air purifier tower to mitigate air pollution

The Chinese, as usual, have gone crazy in building technology. The latest is the high air purifier tower set up in Xian to mitigate air pollution.

China is one of the world’s worst-hit country in air pollution. The use of coal is the major reason and contributor to the country’s air pollution. Cities like Beijing, Shijiazhuang, Xian and many more have recorded air quality of 1000 PM2.5. PM2.5 are fine particles less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter that can lodge in the lungs and get into the bloodstream.

In an effort to cut down China’s air pollution, the Chinese officials have started installing air purifiers across the country. The air purifier tower set up in Xian is an experimental project which is 100 meters high and aimed to cover an area of 10 square kilometers. The air purifier tower or the smog tower is a project under the Chinese Academy of Sciences which used filters and solar energy set up to make the air clean. The tower is aimed at producing 10 million cubic meters of clean air every day which is equivalent to 15% of the city’s local air.

When your country is on the hotspot of air pollution, you need to do something bigger than usual and the world’s largest air purifier is a classic example of how big you need to reach to manage the impact created by us.
